The power of joy...

BEHIND THE SCENES: https://vimeo.com/50772969 PLAY THE GAME: https://apps.facebook.com/joykingdom We set out to explain JOY KINGDOM's in game currency "JOY". This is Sojo Studios second social good game, which enables people to play an online social game that directly influences the real world. We wanted to make a fun playful video that communicated the concept of people working together to influence change. We gave ourselves the constraints of creating everything out of naturally organic materials, and shooting as much practical as we had time for. We scavenged through forests to find an array of branches, moss, leaves and of course twigs. All assets were printed, cut out of paper and photographed. Getting organic...

This project launched a fascination with using organic and unexpected materials. The concept called for lots of natural settings so it seemed logical to go directly to the source.

Bread Knives Cut Grass Just Fine.

This project was an arts-n-crafts overload in the best way possible. Lots of paper cut outs, plenty of spray glue, and more sticks than you can shake a twig at.

The concept called for a brood of animals. Stop motion is notoriously hard with live animals, so we supplanted them in the most organic environments possible. The result was a fun glimpse into a playful world full of natural materials. Leaves became houses. Branches became trees. Ice became Iceland.

This was the my first stop motion collaboration with Ryan Wehner, a brother from another mother who is a brilliant human being. It's since become the signature work of Digital Twigs, an ongoing collaboration between us. It extends to several of my closest friends and most admired collaborators.
