The Process...
Safety First.
Say what you want about her, Courtney Stodden was a delight to work with. So I knew I didn't want her to die due to poor craftsmanship. Above all, I needed to keep a tiny young starlet safe 6 feet off the ground in the hands of male models. The shoot was in downtown Los Angeles, right in the heart of the Fashion District. Transporting a giant piece like this Cleopatra style sleigh bed (technically called a litter) means it needs to come apart and go together quickly. It's like a carnival ride for one.
But this ferris wheel had to look hot while being strong as Kong. I used a single metal bed frame- the kind they sleep on in movies about college or summer camp. Metal can flex and bend but not break, which is optimum when working with amateur litter carriers. The metal frame was bolted to two banister poles. This design gave the whole thing plenty of give without giving out. The tufted buttons across a stretch of neon yellow snake skin vinyl gave it plenty of style. Book-ended with softly curved panels, it was sexy before Courtney even showed up.
The console television throne was also a study in safety. One tiny pedestal supporting the weight of a real television and a reality television star; both weighing about a hundred pounds. It was paramount that Courtney feels secure so she can focus on performing not balancing.
A strip of rhinestones ablaze the hot pink cabinet made it perf' for Courtney's style.
