Produced the world premiere of Rhett & Link’s Wonderhole — a debut event at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
The Process…
Wonderhole is the kind of project that doesn’t fit in a box — docu-comedy, sketch comedy, original music, visual effects, celebrity cameos, and something genuinely hard to describe until you’re watching it. Which made the premiere event a creative challenge: how do you design an experience that sets the right tone for something tonally unprecedented?
The Academy Museum was the right setting precisely because of that tension. It’s a space with weight and history — a place that takes film seriously — and Wonderhole is a show that takes comedy seriously while also being completely ridiculous. That was the energy we wanted the room to carry: this is a real premiere for a real piece of work, and also we’re going to have a great time.
The event design reflected that duality at every level. The step-and-repeat featured die-cut, floating Rhett & Link suspended in front of clouds and mountains — monumental but playful. The Wonderhole title installation had its O’s backlit, glowing in the lobby. The after-party in Fanny’s had a MythicAir DJ booth and a custom drink menu, elevated from a typical industry screening night into something worth attending for its own sake. Cocktail hour ran from six to seven, the screening and Q&A from seven onward, and the after-party carried the room well past the end of the show.
My role was to shape the creative direction of the event from invitation to after-party — the visual language, the physical installations, the feel of the experience for the people in the room. The goal was to give Wonderhole a debut that matched its ambition. Season 1 launched August 23, 2024, and went on to accumulate over 8.9 million views.
